In Belgium you mainly dive in Wallonia, in flooded quarries with overhead around Namur and Dinant. The classic sumps of Remouchamps, Éprave and the Lesse at Han were explored by Belgian cave divers, but there is no free access for visiting divers. Most cave-diving sites are UBS club sites.

Not to be missed
- Carrière de Bauche (Saint-Laurent) →
A UBS site with limited places: max. 4 divers, booked through the SCAN caving club.
- Trou du Diable (Anhée) →
A classic UBS site at Anhée, a short distance from Dinant.
- Carrière de Warnant (cross) →
One of the two UBS quarries at Warnant, easy to combine with the other one (prairie).
- Carrière de Rhisnes →
A dive club's quarry and a cavern site, so an option for less experienced divers; ask beforehand whether guests are welcome.

Good to know
- UBS sites are only for UBS members and their guests, or members of an organisation authorised by the UBS. Commercial activity, courses and drills are banned.
- Keys go through your club president, a commission member or the UBS office in Namur, by reservation. As a foreign diver you dive under a club member's wing; a UBS club can insure you as a guest (max. 3 days a year).
- The UBS prescribes kit: independent cylinders, helmet, primary light plus two backups, redundant buoyancy, reel, compass, cutting tool and redundant deco instruments. With a CCR at least one bailout with a backup inflator and SPG.
- Many Walloon caves are protected, and access is set per cave by a management committee. At the UBS quarry at Denée the UBS currently advises against diving; the Flemish VVS has its own cave-diving working group with its own keys.
Tips for safe and enjoyable diving
- Expect cold water at depth and in winter; the open Vodelée quarry measures 10–20 °C depending on season and depth.
- Gas: Nérée Diving in Namur fills air, nitrox, O₂ and trimix (200 and 300 bar), the closest trimix option. Dive Factory in Braine-l'Alleud has the full range, including helium.
- Emergency: call 112. For an accident in a cave or quarry, call the Protection Civile (+32 4 257 66 00) and say 'Accident Spéléo'. For a diving accident: DAN hotline Belgium 0800 12 382 (free, 24/7).
- Hyperbaric chambers are in Neder-over-Heembeek (Brussels) and Montigny-le-Tilleul (Charleroi). Neither confirms 24/7 reception: call 112 or DAN first.
- Open quarries such as Rochefontaine, Vodelée and La Gombe are handy for a regular dive in between. On a rest day: the slate mine 'Au Cœur de l'Ardoise' in Bertrix, the Grotte de Remouchamps with its boat trip, or the Caves of Han.
Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training.
