In Czechia the only dive for visitors is a flooded mine: Důl Hraničná in the north, close to the Polish border. The karst caves of the Moravian Karst and the Hranice Abyss are reserved for research groups of the Czech caving federation. Expect cold mine water at 8 °C.

Not to be missed
- Důl Hraničná →
The only site visitors can dive: a mine to 120 m, booked through Mine Diving CZ.
- Propast Macocha (Horní a Dolní jezírko) →
Diving here is for ČSS groups only, but on a rest day you can see the abyss and the lakes at its bottom via the Punkevní jeskyně with its boat trip.
Regions
Good to know
- Visitors can only dive Důl Hraničná, through the association that runs the mine (Mine Diving CZ). Book by email or phone; free dates are in their online calendar.
- Cave diving in the Moravian Karst needs a permit from the protected-area administration; in practice only ČSS groups dive there. The Hranice Abyss is closed to recreational divers.
- For Hraničná you need a dive medical, insurance that covers cave diving and a certification for your dive and gas (trimix card for trimix). On site you sign a dive plan and rescue plan; helmet and light are mandatory in the mine.
- The mine is 8 °C year-round and the mine air at most 11 °C: drysuit with good undergarments.
Tips for safe and enjoyable diving
- There is no fill station at the mine: bring all your gas. The closest is Zero Gravity in Otmuchów (Poland, ~30 min); for trimix and O₂ you have to go further, to Hradec Králové or Brno.
- Bring your own sofnolime and CCR spares; no address for them is known in the region.
- Emergency: call 112 (ambulance 155). The hyperbaric chamber is in Ostrava, about 2.5 hours from Javorník; always call ahead.
- Stay in Javorník (~20 min) or Jeseník (~35 min); there is also a cottage at the mine for up to 11 people.
- Rest day: a tour of Důl Hraničná, the Hranice Abyss from the viewing platform, or the Punkevní jeskyně with its boat trip.
Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training.
