The dive

The best-known 'cenote' of the north coast.

Profile and sections

The best-known 'cenote' of the north coast. From the lagoon a tunnel of some 100 m with an air dome and a restriction at a yellow arrow takes you to the main line, which lies right in the halocline: tannin-stained formations and columns more than 15 m tall. At a T-junction the right leads to a pit with breathable air, and the left continues to the exit Cueva de Lilly. A third entrance, Pozo de los Caballos, hangs off it through two more tunnels. Mind the breakdown slabs.

Practical: mind the warning sign at the entrance.

Depth and profile
First tunnel to -20 m, then an average of -6 to -7 m; about 45 minutes to the end of the line
Configuration
Backmount or sidemount; one restriction before the main line.

Entry or dive fee

This is how the planner decides who in your team may dive this cave. Rules your own trip adds (organizer, a mail, the AI) show with your trip.

How to get there

At La Entrada on the Nagua–Cabrera road, 15 minutes east of Cabrera: a tourist lagoon with stairs, a zipline and cliff jumping (about 150 DOP, 9:00–17:00). Cave diving only with a cave centre (about 400–450 USD, day trip from Punta Cana, Cave Diver required); porters help with the gear.

Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training.
