Other people's footage, not advice: how someone else dives here says nothing about what suits your team. Dive within your training.

The dive

You start in a decorated first section. Then a small restriction leads into a large room and breakdown where the cave chokes; downstream the water siphons away through a tunnel.

Profile and sections

You start in a decorated first section. Then a small restriction leads into a large room and breakdown where the cave chokes; downstream the water siphons away through a tunnel. After rain the water in the large room colours in layers of tannin, and the shallow downstream part is silty.

Padre Nuestro is the training ground of the Dominican cave divers. It was explored downstream in 2008 and surveyed in 2010 by Dave Pratt and Cristian Pittaro (DRSS).

Practical: ideal as the first dive of the week, together with El Chicho.

This is how the planner decides who in your team may dive this cave. Rules your own trip adds (organizer, a mail, the AI) show with your trip.

How to get there

In the park, a 15-minute drive from Bayahibe, across the road from the pumping station. Small sink with a tree trunk; rock steps to the water. Park fee, and register beforehand with Medio Ambiente in Bayahibe; people from the pumping station carry tanks for a fee.

Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training. Compiled from web research (DRSS dr-ss.com, Dive Dominicana, Dominican Divers, Scuba Diving, Advanced Diver, World Nomads, divemasteraustin.com, showcaves.com, godominicanrepublic.com, Dominican press, DAN; Oct 2026), the book Las cuevas sumergidas de República Dominicana (environment ministry / Fundación Espeleobuceo Hispaniola, 2003; facts only); Dive Dominicana's gases and prices confirmed by Dive Dominicana, and Golden Arrow's details by Golden Arrow (Oct 2026). Oleg's Bat House and Sistema La Negra were added in Nov 2026 (DRSS, Dive Dominicana, Dominican Divers, and for Oleg's Bat House Caving News and DR1 after Listín Diario, 2011). The DRSS descriptions date from around 2013. Pins only where a source gives them; the caves on private land around Santo Domingo deliberately without a pin.
