Other people's footage, not advice: how someone else dives here says nothing about what suits your team. Dive within your training.
The dive
The cave is named after the vault and floor of its entrance, which together have the shape of a huge trumpet. You swim in just below the vault, which rises further inside, and follow the right or left wall.
Profile and sections
The cave is named after the vault and floor of its entrance, which together have the shape of a huge trumpet. You swim in just below the vault, which rises further inside, and follow the right or left wall. At the end of the main route a niche on the right usually holds a yellow-orange shrimp (Stenopus spinosus); there a narrow vertical chimney full of formations begins, leading up to a small air pocket. Along the way you see bryozoans, orange Astroides coral, feather stars, spiny lobsters, diadem urchins with purple spines and golden groupers.
Practical: Palinuro Sub dives the cave and states no required certification; the level on this page is an estimate.
- Depth and profile
- You enter just below the vault at -20 m. The muddy floor rises from -35 m at the entrance to -12 m in the innermost part. Dive depth 'within twenty, thirty or forty metres' (Palinuro Sub); the registry gives -35 m. Length not published.
- Configuration
- Passage sizes not published. The chimney at the back lets divers through in single file only, max three at a time.
- DPV: Not DPV-suitable (estimate)
- Short cave with a muddy floor: not a scooter dive.
