The dive

Not a cave but a short arch through the reef, with daylight at both ends; the depth is what makes it dangerous. Recreational divers stay with the Bells and the Saddle.

The Arch starts at 52–55 m and is 26 m long: for technical divers on trimix with deco training only. The opening looks close and the passage short, but in the vertical blue you easily sink deeper than you think, use gas fast and get severe nitrogen narcosis on air (and oxygen toxicity on the wrong gas). On the seaward side there is no bottom until ~120 m. Don't go beyond your training or give in to peer pressure.

Practical: the coordinates come from Wikipedia and are approximate.

Depth and profile
A round sinkhole just over 100 m deep with a shallow opening to the sea, the Saddle (~6–7 m). Deep in the wall a ~26 m tunnel to the open sea: its ceiling is at 52–55 m according to the sources (H2O gives 50–60 m), the seaward side drops to ~120 m.
Configuration
Technical deep dive with decompression: trimix, redundant gear and deco gas (Circle Divers, Scuba Seekers). Twinset, sidemount and CCR are used (estimate).
Gas
Trimix from 40 m

How to get there

Shore dive ~10 km north of Dahab: you enter at the Blue Hole or through the Bells. Only with a local dive centre that guides technical dives; per Aquarius Red Sea (2026) the CDWS requires a local guide and Tec 60 at least. Entrance fee on the road.

Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training. Compiled from web research (Oct 2026): the websites of Circle Divers, H2O Divers Dahab and Scuba Seekers, PADI (Blue Hole/Bells, with pin), Wikipedia (Blue Hole, coordinates), Wikivoyage, duikersgids.nl (Abu Helal), SSI, Wego (July 2026) and Aquarius Red Sea (April 2026) on access and rules, and DAN Europe's Alert Diver (2013, 2016) on the chambers. These are shore dives on the reef: chimneys, canyons, overhangs and the Blue Hole's deep arch, with open water outside. The Arch and Abu Helal's deep canyon are technical deep dives. Certification and configurations are estimates.
