Profile and sections
A partly collapsed sinkhole leads into a network with several very pronounced haloclines: a yellow haze below 10 m in the mixing zone and opaque green water below the fresh layer. Visibility in the saltwater tunnel is poor, and at Toro 2 a zero-visibility exit is normal. A jump from Toro 2 leads to Hoyo Azul, some 450 m away.
It is the country's largest system, and this is the dive for those who pick the country for its caves.

How to get there
Near Boca de Yuma, on the eastern edge of the park: from the entrance of Cueva de Berna 20 minutes through the brush to the left, then over boulders to the water. Tanks go by horse; only with the cave centres (about 320 USD, three tanks, full cave and 60+ cave dives).
