The dive
One of the few solution caves of the Exumas, carved by flowing water, with the largest dry cavern zone in the Bahamas.
Profile and sections
One of the few solution caves of the Exumas, carved by flowing water, with the largest dry cavern zone in the Bahamas. Pristine formations decorate the first several hundred feet underwater, and in room two lie large deposits of prehistoric bat bones, a sign of life from the time the passages were dry.
Dr. Thomas Iliffe calls Ovenrock a gold mine for isolated cave animals: several species never described before were found here (Advanced Diver Magazine).
