A boot-shaped sink in the Weeki Wachee River. At -21 to -24 m hangs a thick cloud of hydrogen sulphide that takes away nearly all light; below it the visibility is usually very good, with a sunken jon boat on the bottom and small springs coming out of the wall around -21 m. The southern overhangs hold solution tubes, one of which reaches the surface.
The nickname 'Fish Hospital' comes from the river's sick fish, which come here to recover in the fresh water. It is not a true cave, but a classic Florida experience for anyone who compares it with Angelita in Mexico.

How to get there
By water only: from Roger's Park (Weeki Wachee, boat dock and ramp, $2 per vehicle in summer) by canoe, kayak or boat up the river to a sharp bend about 300 m above the SR 595 bridge; the banks are private. Gear up from the boat or kayak.
