The dive
A swim-through tunnel in the reef, from the shallow sand flat to the drop-off; keep the rock wall on your left in the tunnel. Then you slowly ascend past small caves, crevices and overhangs in the wall.

Practical: Manta Diving asks for at least Open Water and a light; a Dutch dive guide rates it for experienced divers only.

How to get there
Shore dive from the quay at Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen: jump in at high tide, use the steps at low tide. Swim diagonally right and across the sand flat (with a garden eel field) to the tunnel entrance; exit onto Playa Chica beach. Manta Diving runs it guided.
