Cuevas de La Loberica (Cabo Tiñoso)

  • CertificationCavern

The dive

Below the cliffs of Cabo Tiñoso lie the mouths of five caves with unusual flora and fauna. Light coming through the openings stands out against the blue water.

Narrow, interconnected passages along fracture lines: stay within daylight unless you are cave certified.
Profile and sections

Below the cliffs of Cabo Tiñoso lie the mouths of five caves with unusual flora and fauna. Light coming through the openings stands out against the blue water. In places narrow, interconnected passages follow fractures in the rock and open into large vaults.

The caves are numbered: the Herradura (CT-12), the Catedral (CT-11) and CT-17, which one source calls Cueva de los Enamorados and another Cueva del Arco. PADI calls them suitable for all levels.

Practical: the certification level is an estimate; ask the centre which cave you will dive and what they require for it.

Depth and profile

This is how the planner decides who in your team may dive this cave. Rules your own trip adds (organizer, a mail, the AI) show with your trip.

How to get there

By boat with a local dive centre (Rivemar in La Azohía dives here). The caves lie in the Cabo Tiñoso marine reserve: diving needs prior authorisation, arranged by the centre. Under a 2020 draft order Loberica is a zone where scuba diving can be authorised, with max. 24 divers a day and no night dives.

Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training. Compiled from web research (Alicante province cave catalogue, CENM catastro and Grupo Cueva del Agua in Murcia, Benitatxell town hall, Región de Murcia tourism, MAPA/BOE, caving clubs, dive centres and news; Sept 2026), and for the Cueva del Elefante the site of the Celacanto dive centre in Altea (Oct 2026).
