Other people's footage, not advice: how someone else dives here says nothing about what suits your team. Dive within your training.

The dive

On the reef flat off Orote Peninsula, a hole opens in the reef.

It is very easy to go too deep here (Guam Dive Guide): the shaft goes past 91 m. Watch your depth and stay within your certification; past 40 m (130 ft) you need a special certification (MDA).
Strong currents are typical, especially later in the day: use the mooring line to descend (Guam Dive Guide). You surface in the open ocean, in an east-to-west current: deploy a buoy (SMB) for the boat (Wikipedia).
Profile and sections

On the reef flat off Orote Peninsula, a hole opens in the reef. You sink down the vertical shaft and leave it through a window in the wall into the blue, where large pelagic fish and sharks often pass along the wall; the dive ends as a drift in the open ocean. Visibility averages 30 m and is often more.

On the reef flat at 18 m there are coral patches with schooling fish.

Practical: the seas are usually calm (MDA).

Depth and profile
The top of the hole lies on the reef at 15–18 m (50–60 ft); the shaft goes past 91 m (300 ft) (Wikipedia, Guam Dive Guide; MDA: deeper than 60 m/200 ft). The window to the open sea is at ~38–40 m: 125 ft according to MDA, ~130 ft (40 m) according to Wikipedia.
Configuration
An open shaft with daylight and a window in the wall: recreational gear, with a buoy (SMB) for the pickup in open water (estimate).

This is how the planner decides who in your team may dive this cave. Rules your own trip adds (organizer, a mail, the AI) show with your trip.

How to get there

Boat only (sheer cliffs make a shore dive impossible), ~20 minutes from Cabras Marina in Apra Harbor; the boat ties up to a buoy off Orote Peninsula. Plan it as an advanced and deep dive: according to Wikipedia the window is 'just within the limits of an advanced recreational dive, depending on certifying agency'; Guam Dive Guide names Open Water, and past 40 m (130 ft) you need a special certification according to MDA.

Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training. Compiled from web research (Nov 2026): Wikivoyage (Saipan and Diving in Saipan), the Marianas Visitors Authority, Let's go Diving on Saipan (© 2025), AFAR, Wikipedia and Grottocenter on the Grotto; the information site Dive Rota (of Rota's former dive shop, which closed in 2006) and Blue Palms on Rota Hole; Wikipedia, Guam Dive Guide (2018) and the Micronesian Divers Association on Guam's Blue Hole; DVIDS (2015) on the chamber. The Grotto's pin comes from OpenStreetMap, the Blue Hole's from Wikipedia; Rota Hole has no published pin. These are guided caverns and an open shaft with daylight in reach; the requirements come from the dive operators. Certification and configurations are estimates.
