The dive
The dive starts with a long cave that is not too narrow and nowhere pitch dark: light falls in here and there, and on the first dive of the day a curtain of light.
Profile and sections
The dive starts with a long cave that is not too narrow and nowhere pitch dark: light falls in here and there, and on the first dive of the day a curtain of light. A lot of spring water wells up inside; on a day with only ~15 m visibility at sea the dive centre had at least 30 m in the cave at high tide. As at Toriike, the cave leads from the open sea to a small pond inside Shimoji where you can surface; even in strong wind the water there stays flat, so half-in, half-out photos are easy.
On the third dive of a sunny day strong laser beams fall in all year round; according to the dive centre the best on the Shimoji side, far better than at Maō no Kyūden.
Practical: the dive centre calls it shallow and easy for beginners (30%) and can dive it ~80% of the time.
- Depth and profile
- To 13 m; the laser beams fall in at only -5 m. A long, complex cave with a large room and ponds.
