The dive

The water is green and tannin-stained, with haloclines, black bacteria and roots. Divernet called Olwolgin Australia's longest underwater system in 2015.

Tight, silty passages: after silting out it can take days for visibility to return. Toxic air above the water in places.

Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training. Compiled from web research (Oct 2026): the Cave Divers Association of Australia (site list, site pages, visitor permit), cavediving.net.au, CDG reports (caves.org.au), Buzzacott & Skrzypek (2021), Divernet, Shearwater (Pannikin, 2023), DBCA, the Shire of Dundas, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Fiona Stanley and Royal Adelaide hospitals, DAN, SA Parks and the Federal Court (Mirning, 2017). No coordinates are published for any dive cave: no pins, drive times from Cocklebiddy Roadhouse approximate. The certification per cave is an estimate from the CDAA rating; you also need that rating and written permission from the land manager.
