Skanda Coffield-Feith (ProTec) and team have been exploring it since late 2020; the depths come from their survey. In late 2025 the custodians reported finds to INAH: at -42/-53 m lie the remains of probably a young woman ('Yatzil') and Maya pottery, possibly from the Late Postclassic (1200–1521).

How to get there
Near Playa del Carmen: into the jungle on the road Río Secreto also uses, further on rough with deep holes. Since 2024 the road runs all the way to the cenote and there is a dive platform with stairs; before that it was a 20 m rappel after a hike through the jungle with the gear. The last stretch is a private road. Fee and opening hours unknown — arrange through a local guide.
