Other people's footage, not advice: how someone else dives here says nothing about what suits your team. Dive within your training.

The dive

A large, bright cavern full of life, with coral and yellow Leptopsammia and Parazoanthus on the walls and ceiling; schools of barracuda often swim in front of the entrance.

The ~70 m passage on the south wall to the stalactite chamber is a real cave dive ('immersione speleo' according to a local centre), beyond the cavern's daylight zone.
AMP rules (2025, unchanged in 2026): on your own only with the AMP's authorisation, in daylight, with at least a 2nd-level card plus a Cavern Diver card, max 4 divers and within 50 m of the buoy or your dive buoy. Otherwise only guided by an authorised centre: guide at least Cavern Diver, max 4 divers per guide. Max 6 divers per dive and 3 dives a day in the cave; no night dives.
Profile and sections

A large, bright cavern full of life, with coral and yellow Leptopsammia and Parazoanthus on the walls and ceiling; schools of barracuda often swim in front of the entrance. There are air bubbles under the ceiling. On a south-facing wall a long passage begins, leading to a chamber with stalactites stuck in a dune of white sand; they formed in the ice age, when the cave was dry.

The cave is named after an icon of the Madonna and Child that fishermen placed in a large opening above it to ask for protection from the dangers of the sea.

Practical: the cave lies at the tip of Capo Caccia, sheltered from the mistral, in Zone B of the Capo Caccia–Isola Piana AMP. Capo Galera calls the cavern a simple dive. On your own you pay the AMP €10 a day in 2026.

Depth and profile
Opening of ~20 m; max -18 m (it.wikipedia). Parts of the ceiling reach the surface. In front of the cave the 'Massi delle Gorgonie rosse' lie below -35 m (Portoconte).
Configuration
