The dive

Suhadolca is the most important intermittent spring of Cerkniško polje: in high water a stream flows from the cave into the lake.

In high water the cave flows out hard and can be undiveable for days: dive only at low, stable water.
Profile and sections

Suhadolca is the most important intermittent spring of Cerkniško polje: in high water a stream flows from the cave into the lake. Beyond the dry section, where a long stone pillar just before the sump makes a short bypass on the left, a guideline runs through the sump. A foreign diver who got to dive here after days of waiting surfaced after the dive into a lake full of reeds.

The spring continues into a water cave at least 2 km long and is fed from the Javorniki mountains; together with Vranja jama it delivers an estimated 13 m³/s. A Slovenian dive school's cave team dives here year-round.

Depth and profile
Depth and length of the sump not published — ask Slovenian cave divers · according to a university source the water cave continues for at least 2 km
Configuration
No published details on passage size or restrictions in the sump; the hall before the sump is mostly low.
DPV: Not DPV-suitable
Motorised craft are banned in Slovenian caves; electric scooters only for sump research (ZVPJ art. 18).

This is how the planner decides who in your team may dive this cave. Rules your own trip adds (organizer, a mail, the AI) show with your trip.

How to get there

On the edge of Lake Cerknica (Cerkniško jezero), along a path to the cave; divers carry their gear down in several trips. Before the sump you walk through a dry section: an entrance passage (mostly standing height), a small lake chamber, a transition passage (standing height) and a long, wide but mostly low hall. In high water the entrance is partly flooded. Notify the police before diving (see region info).
