Other people's footage, not advice: how someone else dives here says nothing about what suits your team. Dive within your training.

The dive

There is usually less current than at Northern Arch. You'll see lots of fish (blue maomao, demoiselles, snapper), with scorpionfish and nudibranchs among the boulders.

Profile and sections

There is usually less current than at Northern Arch. You'll see lots of fish (blue maomao, demoiselles, snapper), with scorpionfish and nudibranchs among the boulders. Bernie's Cave is at the southern entrance.

Depth and profile
A large arch with swim-throughs: a short one halfway through the arch and longer, deeper ones at 19–23 m at the back by Cleanerfish Bay. No maximum depth of the arch published.
Configuration
Open arch with daylight: recreational gear; a torch for the swim-throughs (estimate).

Through a dive centre or guide

This is how the planner decides who in your team may dive this cave. Rules your own trip adds (organizer, a mail, the AI) show with your trip.

How to get there

Boat dive with a local dive centre; often a sheltered anchorage. The arch is big enough for a boat to pass through.

Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training. Compiled from web research (Oct 2026): DOC (Department of Conservation) on the marine reserve, the websites of Dive Now (Sep 2026), Dive! Tutukaka and Global Dive, Divernet (Dec 2020), Seafriends (2007) on Taravana Cave, Ian Skipworth's underwater galleries (2008, 2013) for depths and Healthpoint on the chamber. No site has a published pin. These are boat dives into sea caves and arches with daylight in reach; Taravana and Isabella Cave are real caves. Certification and configurations are estimates.
