Other people's footage, not advice: how someone else dives here says nothing about what suits your team. Dive within your training.

The dive

Beams of light fall through the holes in the ceiling, and at the exit there is a landscape of basalt columns. There is little life: sponges and small fish, further in bigeyes, rays and Canarian lobsters.

The north coast is exposed to swell: with too much swell you can't get through the small entrance at 12 m and you are pulled to and fro inside the tube. Dive only in calm seas, with a guide.
Lava tube over 150 m long, with dark stretches between the skylights: the tourism board rates it 'High'. Bring a primary and a backup light.
Profile and sections

Beams of light fall through the holes in the ceiling, and at the exit there is a landscape of basalt columns. There is little life: sponges and small fish, further in bigeyes, rays and Canarian lobsters.

Per the tourism board this is one of the deepest caves in the archipelago and one of Tenerife's most remarkable dives, level 'High'.

Depth and profile
Lava tube over 150 m long, without side passages. Small entrance at ~12 m; the exit is a large, cathedral-like cavern at 20–30 m. The tourism board gives 20 m.
Configuration
Long, narrow tube with skylights in the ceiling: recreational gear with a primary and backup light (estimate).
DPV: Not DPV-suitable (estimate)
Narrow ~150 m tube with swell — not a scooter dive.

How to get there

Short zodiac ride from Garachico on the north coast. Only with little swell; with a local dive centre.

Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training. Compiled from web research (Oct 2026): the official dive-point pages of the Canary Islands tourism board (Hello Canary Islands: Tubo de Garachico, Cueva de Los Cerebros, La Catedral and Cueva de Matanza, with depth, level and pin), DIVE Magazine (15 Jan 2024), the websites of Sa Caleta Tenerife and Macaronesian Divers, the Spanish ministry's (MITECO) Natura 2000 panels and Diario de Avisos (May 2026) on the hyperbaric chamber. Pins come from Hello Canary Islands; the Cueva del Zorro, the Cueva de las Morenas and the Cueva de Ali Babá have no pin. These are guided boat dives into lava tubes, caverns and arches in the sea; certification and configurations are estimates. Rules change — check locally.
