The dive

Two large caverns lie side by side, joined by a tunnel. Painted crayfish and scorpionfish sit in the cracks, lionfish hang under the overhangs, and with luck a white-tip or grey reef shark passes by.

The exit lies at 25–28 m, deeper than the 18 m of an Open Water certification: plan your gas and no-deco time for it.

Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training. Compiled from web research (Oct 2026): Niue Tourism's blog (April 2025), the Niue Pocket Guide (updated July 2026), PADI's site page (Dome Cave), Scuba Diving magazine (August 2025), Smartraveller (travel advice for Niue), Healthpoint on the chamber in Auckland and DAN Alert Diver (2017) on an evacuation from the South Pacific. Niue Blue's own website could not be opened. No source gives coordinates for the caves. These are guided boat dives into sea caves with the island's only dive operator.
