The dive

X'Batún is one of the two cenotes of San Antonio Mulix: open, in the forest, with water lilies and deep pools.

Profile and sections

X'Batún is one of the two cenotes of San Antonio Mulix: open, in the forest, with water lilies and deep pools. Diving Yucatán lists it at -50 m among the sites for the experienced, but the divable part under the swimming zone is hardly described.

Practical: in daytime the cenote is full of swimmers. Combine with Dzombacal (900 m) and Yax Há (4 km).

How to get there

San Antonio Mulix (municipality of Abalá), about 35 km south-west of Mérida. Tickets at the Parador San Antonio Mulix in the village, together with Dzombacal; one hour per cenote, 8:00–17:00.

Certification requirements, configurations and trimix depths are estimates for planning. Always check them locally and dive within your training. Compiled from web research (Cenoteando/UNAM, showcaves.com, Yucatán Today, yucatan.travel, Mexico Desconocido, Posta, Diario de Yucatán, Advanced Diver Magazine, dive centres in Mérida; Oct 2026). Pins from the Cenoteando repository, Sabak Ha from Google Maps; depths as the dive centre or the press give them, and they differ per source. Rules, fees and openings change — check locally.
